John Forman has more than 20 years experience as an investor and trader in a wide array of financial markets. He is a Senior Foreign Exchange Analyst for Thomson Reuters IFR Markets, having held similar positions covering the bond, energy, and equity markets over the last 15+ years. As an analyst, his focus is on real-time intraday and short-term market analysis and trading strategy, but as an individual John tends toward a somewhat longer-term view in the positions he takes trading stocks, forex, and other markets. John is author of The Essentials of Trading.

John is the author of The Essentials of Trading (Wiley, 2006), a book he developed out of his experience teaching trading and the financial markets in the university classroom. Forman has done considerable work in the trading education area, primarily focusing on the retail side of the markets. He has spoken at conferences, taken part in webinars and conference call discussions, and authored numerous articles in trading magazines, blogs, and websites. He’s even been on radio and television on a few occasions to talk about the markets.

A former Content Editor for the active trader community site Trade2Win, John is active in trading forums. He regularly contributes his advisory services to trading-related services and sites, and blogs regularly about trading at www.TheEssentialsOfTrading.com.

Outside of the markets, John has spent a considerable amount of time in the volleyball community. For nearly a decade he coached collegiate volleyball, mostly at the Division I level, as well as numerous youth teams. He started and ran a prominent juniors program, and even developed and marketed a patented volleyball training aid.
